We’re on a Mission: Fundraising Ideas

As I mentioned before, we have recently completed our first fundraising event!  We really had SO much fun with the kids.  I really appreciate everyone who participated.

Here are some other events we have going and plan to do:

Online Auction Items:  A friend of ours who is incredibly talented has donated several items for us to use in an online auction.  I posted two of the three tonight and plan to post the third one next week.  Here is what she donated:

One of two Christmas wreaths a friend made for us to auction off to benefit our mission trip fund.

Mmmmm...Can't you just taste it?? Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake donated by a friend to auction off to benefit our mission fund.

Both of these items are available for bidding until Wednesday, December 11, 2013 on my blog’s fan page on facebook.

Etsy Shop:  You all might remember I had a photo shoot not too long ago with Studio Verabella.  All of those products pictured in our photo shoot and more are available in my Etsy Store for purchase.  If you are a local, you can get in touch with me before you process your order and I will give you a coupon code to knock out the shipping charges.  We can schedule a meet up time and place for delivery.

Apple Pies for Christmas:  It’s just what it sounds like.  I will start this coming week baking apple pie after apple pie and will sell them the days leading up to Christmas to lessen the burden on the cook.  I made my very first apple pie just a few months ago, though I’ve been trying to perfect the crust for years, and I must say it was pretty stinking good!

Bake Sale:  Our local Wal-Mart allows people to set up  at their location to sell baked goods and other items for fundraising and charity.  We plan to gather baked good donations and baking of our own in order to get a really nice table together.  We also plan to serve coffee and hot chocolate at the table.  Yummy!

Baby Sitting Clinic:  A fellow missionary and I are going to go in on this one.  It’s going to be in March or April and SURE to be simply amazing.  We are going to reserve our church building so that we can break off our attendees into different rooms with different instructors, most of which will be certified in their field of teaching.  For example, my husband is a fireman.  he is going to have a room to teach fire safety and escape plans.  A current preschool teacher is going to talk about effective discipline for kids that age.  In another room, we will have a certified dietitian to give ideas on how to provide healthy snacks.  We will have a CPR instructor doing certifications, too.  We plan to make the class a full day event, complete with a box lunch and breaks.  I can’t wait to see how this one comes out.  I am really excited about it.  I think it will appeal to not only preteens and teens interested in babysitting but others who are just wanting to learn more about the “classes” we have to offer.

5K Walk/Run:  I am not 100% what all is involved in this, but it definitely goes along with my interests and talents.  I will be doing more research on this soon.  If you have experience in planning something like this, please let me know!

Fish Fry: My husband suggested this one and we aren’t 100% sure how to go about this one either, due to the sheer amount of fish one would have to prepare.  From what I understand food fundraisers like this can be tricky because there’s usually a decent overhead therefore your overhead/profit margin is pretty small.  I don’t know, we’ll see.

As I sort of hinted to in on of the last paragraphs, I was advised by a very successful fundraising queen to find ways to use our talents and passions.  Find a way to fill a need, especially where you’re talents and passions are and you will probably succeed.  It is also a good idea to find fundraisers that will appeal to different audiences.  If your fundraisers are constantly targeting one market, you will run that barrel dry quick.  I feel like I have done that with my current ideas.

If you have other ideas or want to expand or give input on any of these ideas, please feel free.  I am always open to suggestions.

Cheers,
Andrea
